Is it possible to virtually redecorate a room in Photoshop.

I will be decorating my house soon, but I first like to see how the colors would look that I chose. The point of focus is the walls and floor. Does anybody know of any tutorials or tips on how I can do this.

I think you should try playing around with the transform tools. Also you may want to scale the photos of the house.

You can start by taking some pictures of the entire surrounding of the room and upload them to photo shop. Once you upload them, then you can add color and whatever else you would like to use to decorate your room.

Isn't using Photoshop to design a page for decorating a little over doing it. I feel that you are adding extra unneeded work to your project.

I agree ... what I do [okay, maybe this is just me] is close my eyes and visualize the room in my mind and "paint" it that way. Another thing you could do though is download SketchUp by Google. It's a free modelling program that's relatively simple to use [I've heard].

Good luck!

If you take pictures of all your walls and ceiling then you could definitely use Photoshop to try out various colors and styles. Great idea by the way!

Oh, that's a cool idea. I love decorating but I'm always afraid to pick the wrong colors for my walls. It takes me forever to decide on what I want for fear of choosing something bad. Taking pictures and photoshopping the colors is a really good idea. I'll have to remember that!

Keep in mind that even if you get the look and colors you want, when you apply it in the real world you do not always get the same thing, as you walls are very different.

I highly recommend it...

I have used photoshop to help explore wall colors a number of times now, and highly recommend it.
It really helps you visualize the space with your furnishings in place, and I have found it to be very accurate to the end result. It also allows you to explore painting one wall a different color (like a feature wall) from others, and helps you visualize the contrast of different colors in different spaces that are exposed to each other.
Each pic takes about half-an-hour to prepare and sometimes the color you first thought of isn't always the one you go with. Once you have finished in photoshop you can print the pics in color.
I have found though that you will still need to get paint chips/samples before commencing painting, to finalize the decision on shades be it a little lighter or a little darker, as different screens and printers represent the colors differently.
