d English house and another room of smoked mirrors. It was elegant but dark, literally and figuratively, and it drew you in the way a McQueen show could. What I couldn’t get over was that he had done all this work by the time he was 40.
The first person I ran into was my friend Richard Buckley, the former magazine editor, who was keeping Livia Firth company while her husband performed his co-host duties with Ms. Wintour. I told her I followed her tweets.
“You do?” Ms. Firth said, surprised.
I saw Daphne Guinness,Red Dress, who had gotten dressed for the party in a window at Barneys. She had on a gray feathered McQueen dress, green dress, with beautiful dangling earrings (by her friend Shaun Leane) and metallic blue nail polish. She said the window experience really kind of knocked her out. “I just did my noh theater thing,Pink Dress,” she said, moving her arms in a swaying motion to demonstrate.
